The Centre Hépato-Biliaire brings together, in one place, every discipline needed to treat diseases of the liver, bile ducts and pancreas.

Surgeons, hepatologists, endoscopists, radiologists, anaesthetists-intensivists and highly specialised nursing teams work side by side. Every case is discussed in a multidisciplinary team meeting, from diagnosis to long-term follow-up.

Our mission

To provide comprehensive care for patients with diseases of the liver and bile ducts, uniting care, research and teaching. The Centre is France's leading liver transplant centre and the third largest in Europe.

A landmark history

Founded in 1993 around the Paul-Brousse school of liver surgery, the Centre helped make liver transplantation a standard treatment. It bears the name of Prof. Henri Bismuth, a pioneer of liver surgery and transplantation.
